DIRT TOUR at Lake Elsinore MX Park

DIRT TOUR at Lake Elsinore MX Park –  SAT 8/25  -  my view
Before I get going, my name is David, and I’ll be doing some reporting for ThrottleJunkie.com I’ll be covering weekend races and local events. I’m really interested in local talent, the average guy, the weekend warrior, and the families that make up the backbone of our great sport.

I love this sport to no end. My vision is on locals. So don’t be shy… email me if ya got a good story or picture for ThrottleJunkie.com. I want to illuminate all types of riders and drivers, from bike riders, to Rhino, free-styler’s and quads. ….
Like my young buddy Johnny Sailors of Temecula. Johnny has raced mx, but has converted his talent to freestyle.  While I was covering the Saturday morning race at LEMP, Johnny came over to me, and said watch this … I did, as were many others, as Johnny was hitting the biggy at LEMP. Throwing out seat grabs, and other crazy moves.
Ya know, there’s a lot of great and interesting talent all around us. Let the big news guys report the pro’s. I’m all about our community, and the backbone of the sport
OK, so the Dirt Tour, very sweet … this was a good sized event. A huge turn out. I’m guessing five thousand people easy. And wow, no real problems for the entire event. That fact changed this story’s direction.
Now think about that, cause if you were there, then you may have noticed the Police presence, or lack there of …  and only a hand full of the “red t-shirt security” guys as well. Hmmm, I noticed this right away as teens walked by drinking. I then pondered, the  potential for things to get out of hand, very quickly.
But other than a few small issues with a couple of guests, no problems. I credit this to the types of people and families our sport draws. Especially mx riders, be it bikes, rhinos and even quads. I have two now very close life long friends, that I met riding. Other than our true love for riding, we had nothing in common. But our riding created a bond and respect.
For that matter, I pulled over on the 15 freeway not to long ago, and offered my help. I stopped because he had a bike, (and no gas, lol) I laughed at him a few times, then hooked him up some fuel.  This all goes with the  ThrottleJunkie.com  motto of  “Be True To Your Sport”
Ok, back at the even, … lots of good people, friends and families staying cool and having fun.  Ya know, it’s funny, when people know you “can” post there picture on a popular web page, your popular – instantly!
It was a good looking crowd over all. The gone wild drunk girls were very motivated to get attention, and there picture taken. The wild ones all seem to have the same auto-responders, once they saw the camera “whoooosh“ up went the tops!  This of course causes the crowd, ok the guys anyway, to hoop-n-holler, only to excite a repeat by first flasher, and/or additional flashers.
This seen was repeated all night. I had lots of  pictures, on this and many more family moments as well. However, I am a family guy, so was careful not to pick-up to much skin in my frames. But, didn’t matter. I screwed up the transfer of pic’s to my pc anyways and lost 80% of all pictures I took, oops.

All well, had I dared to put a single picture of that up, my wife who also reads & edits would have killed me. Or worse, kept me from going riding. And we cant have that, can we Mauler …
There was endless races and events to watch, and lots very tricked out Rhino’s, trophy car’s, full blown race cars /sand rails and lifted trucks with enough bling to make Flavor-Flav smile.
I was in front row for all the great action. While hanging out with announcers Dave Arnold and Jason of Pole Position, I watched as the XXX motor sports rhino driver, 39yr old Brian of Temecula, on his third time out flipped his car nose first, and went end over end. Well, it appeared the XXX car was done for the nite. Not so, Brian came to rest on the wheels, motor still running. With out missing a beat, Brian floored it, & took off to finish the moto!  … myself along with the crowd, cheering him on big time.
There was some very serious equipment on hand. Best of the best. Some cost as much to build as local houses. One in team and car in particular, was that of #56, Todd Arthur of HRT Motor Sports. What a great team and family. With four cars on hand, including there  “ “Flying Banana” trophy tuck that took the honors. Todd said he had his beast against the rev limiter to pull off the win, with such intense competition.
This great team was very kind, and eager to talk as Chris Hawks, Todd’s brother in law showed me the goods. I really enjoyed our talk and the show-n-tell. I also spoke with I believe Todd’s son whom road shotgun, what a great kid …and the next driver  I think he’s about 11 now, and said would be driving the “flying banana” in about four months. He also said he would give me a ride … “I wont forget that son” …
The show had lots to see. To much to list. I highly suggest you go to the next Dirt Tour event. The many races setup were all just for practice and fun. No scores kept. So no wieners, or losers. Just good racing and major adrenaline packed fun. Lots of kids on there daddy’s shoulders watching the excitement.
But from the looks of the action, you would think a huge purse or championship was at stake. The truck tug-o-war battles, killed a good number of tires and white smoke poured out. One poor guys truck in this battle of stockers made a very loud “clunk/thud” and that was it for him. He did drive away, albeit very slow. These events were big crowd pleasers. Lots of kids faces pressed against the chain-link fences cheering them on.
There was a couple of ramps set up for race cars/trucks – some flying 90+ feet …  A few stockers gave a try also. They didn’t fare to well.  I’m sure they went for an front end alignments on Monday. Some left there tire tread in the dirt from the tug-o-war event.
Of course, no big event is complete with out a couple of  “beverage filled” knuckleheads. This events idiots was limited to a few guys racing thru the crowd of people, on mini’s. Of course it didn’t take long to see blood. And I’m pleased that at least it belonged to the offenders … just some very nice looking skin-pizza.
This was sooo much fun. Be sure you make the next event, and bring the family. Log on to Throttle Junkie .com for upcoming schedules and events. And, come race with us Saturday mornings. Done matter who wins, It’s all about having fun, and being true to your sport.
