LEMX Race 9/22 Sat – at LEMP
** All Race Stats from Sat 9/22 are posted Below **
Rain rain go away ? … Nah, it just makes for some interesting racing here Lake Elsinore Motocross Park. And can create some great track conditions, and/or some very slippery ones as well. To much for some. I wimped out, and didn’t race the second round moto, all because of a little rain. …
A little rain my butt, it was coming down … and did so just as the second round of moto’s was lining up. My excuse, I mean reason … I spent the last three months letting my knee injury heal up, and didn’t want a tip over and jack it up. Well that’s my story anyways! I hate mud, freaks me out even. I have a deep fear of spinning rear wheel off a jump face, and ending up sideway …
With the amount of rain coming down, the track was looking more and more like an ice rink. It was funny at times … Jeannette Wall may not agree, however. But if ya should get to see the picture of her with mud between her teeth, as she smiled while picking her bike up … you’ll agree. lol
My boy, Mike “Mauler” Yellich and our faithful race announcer is fast, … no doubt. But add some mud, and he gains speed ? That’s not how its suppose to work. While Im freaking out, Mauler goes faster … go figure. Ok so maybe being a Jet Ski champ and racing on water, being sideways most of the time plays into this a bit -
Mauler finished 2nd in moto two. Not just in his class, but for the entire gate. So if ya figure that into the mix, looks like Mauler took 2nd or 3rd over all, “in classes he wasn’t even in!” watch your back Brett, Mauler has elaborated his goals to me! He want to go real fast. He motivated … And don’t let Maulers practice speed fool you. Its not his race speed!
In Moto two, Mauler was in 4 place off the gate with Brett Hiner taking the whole shot. Brett Hiner departed the pack, never looking back … Mauler quickly went to work, and moved up, taking over second before the end of lap two. Third spot was all #9 -Mike Phillips. Phillips was putting the heat on Mauler by lap three, and briefly changed places. It didn’t last though, as Phillips came off the track and re-entered a moment later. Hiner kept 1st , while Mauler took 2nd to the checkers. Phillips kept a respectable 3rd
I want to note that #9 Mike Phillips, stuck around and practiced after the races were over. The outcome was some very smooth lines, with added speed … Hmmm, I’m looking forward to next Saturday’s race. Ive been seeing Phillips at LEMP often. The guy is plotting his attack. Sorry Mike if this lets the cat out of the bag. “Mike Phillips is getting faster and stronger” racers beware!
The over nite rain along with some dark sky’s had many stay home, thinking no races. So with the amount of racers on hand, all bikes of 125+ cc plus lined up on the same race gate. This was an exciting change of pace. Many classes, abilities and bike size all mixed up. Only bummer was, since I was in said moto … I cant tell ya all the particulars. See stats below for final outcome.
What I can tell ya however, “I” the reporter guy “was” pulling the hole shot! – To bad my concern for self preservation out weighed my ego, … I let off the gas going into the sweeper. My bad, and I was rewarded for such with a nasty “stone spray sandwich”. Not to mention being passed by many. Including the only girly on the track, our buddy Ms Jeannette Wall #272. But hey, I figured no worries, JW will crash soon anyways … and ill get the spot back. lol – you earned that one little missy.
The Quad race was very exciting as is the norm. I have enough trouble on two wheels, let alone four. And would never put my butt on a quad. Albeit there a heck of allot of fun to watch. Add some new players and a decent number at the gate, and you know the Quads will put on a good show. They did not disappoint. I will concentrate on this class next week with pictures … so be there! Calling on QUAD Racers – COME OUT to “LEMP” and RACE the with LEMX . And on one of the best tracks around !
Last off, don’t assume LEMP is closed due to rain. There open more times than not !“Alicia will agree, wont ya Blondie”… Sorry girly girl, I just enjoy picking on you! Call or check out at www.lakeelsinoremxpark.net
