The Dune Dummy 29 Race Report.
Those That Missed It You Missed A Great Race. The Afternoon Was A Little Warm & We Were Delayed For About An Hour Waiting For An Ambulance To Arrive. I Have Worked Sprint Car Races, Stockcar Races & Offroad Races, Believe Me This Is Pretty Normal, We Seem To Spend A Lot Of Time Waiting For Ambulances. Well The Wait Was Worth It. The Action Started Early In The Practice & Qualifiers. I Was Busy With Line Ups & Other Duties. I Missed The Practices & Qualifiers, But I Saw The Carnage As They Drove Or Were Towed Off Of The Track. Then When The SXS Mod-Am Race Started I Was Eating Dinner & Missed It. Oops. I Heard The National Anthem Start Or No Telling What Else I Would Have Missed. Once Again I Got The Honor & Pleasure Of Being The Pace Rhino. Okay I Lead The Parade Laps.
The Track Had Bigger Jumps On The Front & Backstretch. In Fact The First Few Times I Came Over The 4′ Dropoffs I Almost Soiled Myself. I Just Rolled Through Them With My Basically Stock Rhino With A Major Toe Out Problem, But The Racers Flew Off Of Them & I Don’t Think There Were Any Incidents On These Jumps But There Were A Lot Of Crashes & Contact Through The Whoops. There Was Also A Lot Of Passing In The Whoops.
So The SXS Superstock Race Started Out With Gary “Motogary” Thompson Leading From The Poll. I Had Seen & Talked To Him Before The Race & He Had Some Fuel Pickup Issues &
Changed The Fuel Pump Before The Main Event. It Must Have Helped Because He Lead From Start To Finish For What I Believe Is His First Main Event Win. Congratulations Gary.
