I had the pleasure of meeting Cesear last year at the 2008 World Finals. We had the pleasure of pitting with three Italian riders, one being Cesear, and it was quite a good time. I will never forget that big grin on his face as I tried to pull his red kawi out of the lake. He always had a grin on his face. He would always try to give a few words of encouragement before my races, even though he spoke little english.

After our rider’s meeting last Sunday night, he made a point of greeting with that big smile and an Italian greeting. Every time I passed him on the way to the race track, he would give me a shout of good luck. Last Wednesday, I never realized that it would be the last time I would be able to wish him good luck and a safe race.
As I prepare to come back to the world finals on Friday afternoon, I received word that there had been a crash with a Team Serbian rider involved. My heart sank. Within the hour, I received word that it was our friend Cesear. That was one of the longest 4 hour drives I had ever taken.
Our deepest condolences and tears go out to his family, friends, and fellow Team Serbian riders. Cesear will always have a special place in my heart both on and off the track. Rest in Peace our fellow racer.
