Posted by mauler On August - 31 - 2009 Comments Off
First I want to thank all of our races who came out for round 6 at Milestone last saturday night. We appreciate your loyalty as we have navigated this transitional year in a difficult economy. We remain dedicated to providing an amature motocross series that is geared towards being fun for the kids while teaching competive racing and sportsmanship in a family friendly enviorment. Our goal is to build our riders in to better racers, and better adults.

Pole_Position_Summer_Series
Thumbs up to 20 year old Dana Walker who came out and raced his first ever motocross race with us last week. Dana finished both of his moto’s and left with a smile on his face. Good job Dana and we look forward to seeing you again.

Round 7:
of our 2009 Summer Splash Series will be held Saturday night Sept. 12th at Perris Raceway. We look forward to holding our first event at this historic facility and urge everyone to come out for a great night of racing. Mini Bike practice is held there every Tuesday night from 4-9pm. For the full practice schedule log on to www.perrisraceway.com

The dog days of August have arrived, if you are out riding, be sure to bring shade and extra fluids! Milestone MX Park is great for these hot days as they are open for practice everyday until 9:30pm.
Check out their full schedule at www.milestonemx.com Race #8 is scheduled here for sat 9/26

Lake Elsinore Motocross Park is comming back! I spoke to Brandon this morning and all of the tracks have been redone, and are being maintained. More changes to come!!!! If your yearly membership to the park has expired, do not worry. You can by a one day membership for an extra $5, making it just $25 to ride if you do not have a membership and just $20 if you do. Check out their website at www.lakeelsinoremxpark.net Race #9 is scheduled here on sun 10/11

The Summer Series Awards Ceremony is being arranged for Sunday morning 11/1 at Pole Position Raceway in Murrieta….stay tuned for details

Fall Series: We are planning a 4 race fall series on the following date….all Sunday mornings….10/25,11/15,12/6, and a finale Holliday Race on 12/20 Locations to be announced……

Hospital Stop:
In the last moto of the night , 13 year old Ty Smith took a nasty fall on the back part of the track, Ty was able to walk off, and after being checked out by the EMT was driven to the Hospital by his dad.
We recieved a call late Saturday night saying that he had been released and they were on there way home. Unfortunately, complications arose, and Ty ended up back in the Hospital early in the week. It is my understanding that he is home now recovering. This was Ty’s first race since last year’s Lake Elsinore Grand Prix, although you couldn’t tell it by the way he was riding, he was definitely on the gas. We look forward to his return, and have a free entry waiting for him.

Many of our races are back in school, and I’m sure they all will be by our next race on the 12th. Please relay this message is to the kids from me……Do your homework, study for your tests, and keep your grades up!!!!!! and for those lucky enough to get to ride during the week….MAKE SURE YOU GET UP FOR SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY!!!!!!!!!

2009 United Warrior Personal Watercraft Freedom Ride

IMG_6622PWC Freedom Riders raise funds on behalf of the United Warrior Survivor Foundation
Dates: September 11-12, 2009

Locations: Los Angeles Port, to San Diego Harbor, California USA

On behalf of United Warrior Survivor Foundation, the United Warrior PWC Freedom Riders will launch from Cabrillo Beach, San Pedro and ride south to the Naval Amphibious base located on Coronado Island, California, and back again. The open ocean ride of 280 miles along the California Coastline will be a memorial fundraiser on behalf of UWSF surviving spouses of our fallen Special Operations Warriors since 9-11.

The United Warrior PWC Freedom Ride commences on September 11, 2009. On the anniversary of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks against our nation. We Will Never Forget.

The United Warrior PWC Freedom Riders on September 11th will complete the final course and safety checks in Los Angeles, CA at Cabrillo Beach. Freedom Riders on personal watercraft (PWC) will make the trek on September 12th at 6:30am departing the safety of the Angel’s Gate from the Los Angles Port heading offshore into the Pacific Ocean. Refueling stops will be tasked at select marinas along the southern coastal route. Support teams will be at select checkpoints. The ride can be tracked online throughout the day.

The United Warrior PWC Freedom Ride will stop at the Glorietta Bay boat launch deep inside the San Diego Harbor in the early afternoon. The group will then refuel and head back to San Pedro California. The turnaround point under the blue steel support beams of the Coronado Bay Bridge will symbolize the memorial ride. The Coronado Bay bridge arched supports is a local landmark off the Naval Amphibious base where Special Forces warriors train. K38 Water Safety first began training USMC Recon Marines here in 1996 and enjoys this honor to date with other divisions.

The United Warrior PWC Freedom Riders are American Watercraft Association (AWA) H2O Responder Members. These UWSF supporters are experienced PWCoffshore Endurance Riders. Each rider and vessel is fitted with safety equipment. They have extensive navigational skills operating in the Southern California coastal waters in all seasonal conditions.

Their fundraising efforts begin on June 18th. These riders support their individual expenses and pilot their own Personal Watercraft. The initial fundraiser campaign has launched with a $2,000 charitable contribution to UWSF. Please support us in our goal of reaching $25,000 on behalf of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

How can you support the UWSF PWC Freedom Ride?
Sponsor a charitable donation on behalf of the PWC Freedom Riders by making a financial contribution to the non-profit UWSF. Follow this link: http://www.UWSF.org

About the United Warrior Survivor Foundation (UWSF)

DJSA

On the serie’s smallest race course -
With only a 4-hour window to race in -
and in front of a whole lotta spectators -
You guys didn’t just bring the heat to Suisun for Hot August Nights -
You set that place on fire!!!

My sincere thanks to an incredible staff, a one in a million race announcer, and to 44 of the most talented pwc racers the West Coast has ever seen… 4 words for you about race 7… I’ll never forget it!

First the thanks – then the results and point standings…

Course set up -
John Bonkowski, John Dewar, Robby Hall, Derrick Kemnitz, and everyone else who pitched in when I was running late. Matt Saale for helping me pull all those buoys at the end of the night.
Dave Cottle Sr for managing the light towers and handleing anything else I forget to do!

Team Orange -
It was a stressful, busy, intense, hectic, off the hook night ever since the first heat – but you all made it look like a simple walk in the park. I can never express to you just how proud you make me when I watch you guys work as a team on the water, but I hope you know how much I, and every DJSA racer on the water appreciates you being there…

Team leader – John Bonkowski
Asst team leader – Robby Hall
Stan Schrock
Raul Guiterez
If this isn’t one of the best water rescue teams in pwc racing today, I don’t know who is!

Scoring and Registration -
Doreen Knollenberg
Nicole Lambert
Stephanie Beltram
Mandy Guiterez
(and some back up help from Caley and Danielle)
We were on a tight schedule but just like team orange – you were all “on it” all night long and I thank you to no end for all you do. The scoring sheets were flawless and that says 4 words about your professionalism and accuracy – you girls friggin rock

Photography and Video -
Traci Cottle
Taunia Kemnitz
Rick Ignacio

Heres 3 words for you – I’m in shock! Traci, how does someone take so many incredible shots, and then get them posted the very next day? These are some of the most incredible action shots I have ever seen and that one of Wattier half buried in the water, or Ian Roberts ripping around that yellow buoy – sweet Jesus I’m smiling like a little kid at Christmas!!!!!

Announcing -
The one and only voice of pwc racing as we know it – Mr. Kurt Knollenberg.
I receive many calls and emails complimenting DJSA races, and they all include comments on the same thing… The excitement, passion, and enthusiasm that a certain individual brings to the races lap after lap. Kurt, I can’t even get started right now otherwise I will never get around to posting the results – but one of the luckiest days of my life will always be when we were all at the Sacramento boat show – and I met Robby Hall who made me call you… (Robby, I owe you.) Kurt – you’re amazing!!!

Here’s one of countless comments from the Suisun race from the Suisun City Staff – “Your announcer is amazing. We were going to leave around 6, but the racing was so good, and Kurt made it so interesting, we stayed until after the last race!”

I have a very long list of favorable comments to present to Kurt, but there is no disputing the fact that not only is he one of the nicest guys in the world I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing – he also has a gift and he uses it well. Kurt is by far one of the best race announcers I have ever heard. His passion for this sport and what he has done for DJSA has definitely pushed us a few rungs up the ladder, and for that I will always be indebted to him. My sincere thanks to my favorite “A Noun_Sir”

Other very cool people I can never thank enough
The Ski Clinic of Antioch
Performance Marine of Oakley
The city of Suisun City
Anita, and the city council of Suisun City
California Marine Sports of Suisun
Suisun City Fire Department for 2 very impressive 4 minute responses to the race site
Sgt Bob Szmurlo of the Suisun City marine patrol
Harbormaster Gus from the City Marina
Captain Dan from California Sunset charters
Chris from the city staff
The US Coast Guard
Go Kart racer of Burlingame
Sun State Rentals
Muscle Milk…
And 44 of the most impressive northern California pwc racers I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. It was an amazing night, and I sincerely thank everyone who helped make it happen.

The complete final results can be viewed on the course racing page, but here is the short version of results…
