Product Review — X Brand Goggles
XBrand gave ThrottleJunkie.com a few goggles to test this weekend. We let a few of our ThrottleJunkie riders and kids try them out. We gave a bunch of goggles to some of this weekends “throttlejunkie”
Mike “the Mauler” our announcers gave one pair to Alex Lamarr, rider #48 from this Sunday‘s MX Racer Series at Lake Elsinore MX Park. Alex took 3rd out of the gate. Going thru the whoops section, got distracted “when looking to his dad/pit crew for encouragement.” Alex went down and thinking he was out of the race. EMT was called, but Alex wanted to finish the race. Got back on his bike, was rippin around the track - as fast as he could. Each time he went by passing our TJ announcer, Mike said ”I could hear him crying out, as he passed the finish line I could see sobbing tears on his face…” Mike “the Mauler” went up to interview him at end of the day because he was really ”impressed” HE WAS STILL CRYING …”it was a great ride for a kid who was highly motivated…Right on.” Which is why we call him one of our “THROTTLEJUNKIE” riders of the day. Other riders of the day of the X brand goggles awards went out to Jordan Dibella, Jeff Smith of Jeff Smith Powersports in temecula & Josh Vaios.
This week’s tip – From Mike “the Mauler” – After year’s of racing Motocross and Jet Ski’s I have always loved to hear my fans as I passed by. As an announcer it has been great to watch the families cheer on all the racers. We especially want to pay tribute to our “moto families” who are not only our riders pit crew, but our sponsors, managers, mechanics, fans, nurses and more. We love our moto families. Take it from a rider – when I raced on the track it was somewhat distracting to read hand signals. My advise is for moto families is ”Be more than a fan to the Rider.” Purchase a Pit board and create your own symbols/language that both the rider and the “lap counter” understand. Create a language for what is happening on the track like; smoother, keep up the pace, breath, 1 lap… Keep it positive and of course nothing to cause the rider to look back. Lesson #3 of riding – never look back because it makes you look tired or worried. Remember, “the race is in front not behind you.” One more thing, as you walk the track in the morning, pick a special spot that is in the best place for the rider and the “lap counter.”
We really like the XBrand Goggles and are excited about having more of you try them out. So far we have heard great feedback, parents said that fit great and our photographer’s really like the clear lens so they can capture the faces, making them “timeless” memories.
