Proposed Jet Ski Racing Stadium/Havasu
Within the last 6 months the city has been negotiating and made offers to lease 328 acres on the water known as Windsor # 4 including the Windsor Beach Parking and Ramps. The committee continues to work on this project. The thought was to get the legislature to order State Parks into an agreement……that was not approved but the city and state parks are still trying to get a deal done because it will benefit all.
Senate rejects Lake Havasu State Park lease
Staff and wire reports
Today’s News-Herald
Published Wednesday, April 28, 2010 11:05 PM MST
The Arizona Senate disappointed local officials Tuesday when senators rejected a bill that would have required Arizona State Parks to lease Lake Havasu State Park to the city.
House Bill 2464 was defeated 18-12 despite a floor amendment Tuesday by Sen. Ron Gould, R-Lake Havasu, to make the measure more palatable to lawmakers.
Although the bill was voted down in the Senate, a leasing agreement between the city and the state may still be a possibility.
The Arizona State Parks Board meets today at 10 a.m. and the first item on the agenda is an executive — or closed — session to discuss legal advice on the proposed legislation and agreements and/or leases for the Lake Havasu State Park.
The first board vote could require staff to continue conversations with Lake Havasu City officials regarding a possible agreement.
Charlie Cassens, interim Lake Havasu City manager, said Wednesday night that he wants conversations to continue.
“We think we have crafted a plan that is a win-win situation and it would be a shame if they weren’t willing to discuss (it),” Cassens said. “It’s disappointing (that the bill failed) particularly since we thought we had amended the bill to alleviate many of the concerns the legislators had and concerns we thought the State Parks people had.”
Gould said there is not enough time left in the Legislature to push through any bills regarding the matter. He, too, said he was disappointed Wednesday night.
“It would have been beneficial to both Lake Havasu and the Arizona State Parks system. I’m sorry we ran out of time … we would have been doing good just to get that bill through. There’s always next year.”
Rep. Nancy McLain, R-Bullhead City, also chimed in with her disappointment that the measure failed.
“I’m very angry and frustrated at the moment,” she said. “We worked so hard to get this passed and we couldn’t do it.”
Gould’s amendment would have required the State Parks Board to lease the park to the city for 15 years. Financially, the park would have been managed through a Park Enterprise Fund, financially separate from the city with no commingling of funds.
“In return, the park would be eligible to receive up to $1.5 million in interest free loans from the city for capital improvements to the park; any profits generated by park operations would be evenly split by the State Parks Board and the Park Enterprise Fund. Over the course of the 15-year lease, all proceeds received by the Parks Enterprise Fund would have to be spent to improve Lake Havasu State Park.
“At the end of the 15-year lease, control of the park would revert back to the State Parks Board. Since the profits received by the Park Enterprise Fund will have been reinvested into Lake Havasu State Park over the preceding 15 years, State Parks will receive 100 percent of park profits over the term of the lease either as cash or park improvements.”

IJSBA Jet Skiers Supports San Diego Bay Clean Up
April 26, 2010
IJSBA has received this press release from the San Diego Personal Watercraft Club. We congratulate these guys for their good stewardship of the water. All participants were given complimentary copies of the IJSBA World Finals DVD.
April 24th San Diego, Ca;
For the first time ever, iloveacleansandiego.org sponsored an on-the-water-cleanup with the San Diego Personal Watercraft Club of San Diego Bay this past Saturday April 24th.
14 jetskis and one boat covered the entire San Diego Bay, approximately 20 miles in length, and collected 330 lbs of floating trash that will NOT be sucked into our impellers.
We found surf board fins, tennis shoes, 2×4’s, plastic bags, plastic water bottles, glass bottles, cigarette butts, rope, and many other things that went down the storm drains and into our Bay after the recent rains.
Thanks to all SDPWC members and here’s to finding 500 lbs next year !!!!!

MTH- SRH- Suzuki Race Report: Racetown 395
Written by The Off Road Corner
|
MTH Enterprises / SRH / Suzuki Race Report Round 4 WORCS – World Off-Road Championship Series – Racetown 395 Adelanto, CA Coming into Racetown we were both excited and ready to go. There was a great deal of testing done and new settings all around. Dr. D Exhausts got us an awesome set up and the 94db system is outstanding. Race-Tech spent a great deal of time working with us and getting our suspension dialed in, and our newest sponsor that just came on board, Galfer Brakes sent us some killer discs that worked well. It was nice to race close to home, our friends and families were able to take the weekend and spend it at the track. Saturday the course was muddy in the morning that made for good amateur racing and excellent pro practice conditions. The track got rough and line choice was huge. Carrying momentum and arcing your corners just the right way was the key to going fast on the sandy course. Practice went well as the track dried out and fortunately we were able to run the endurocross section. It was the second round this year that the track had one. It wasn’t too tough but there was a corner with a bunch of tires laid on their sides that was a bit tricky. Chris was able to put in a solid session and changed a few settings with his set up to make for a better feel for race day. “Practice went well I found a bunch of good lines and I think tomorrow is going to be a good day. I feel strong and confident; I’m excited for tomorrows racing.” Bruce was happy with his set up and also with the way things went in practice. “The track is super choppy and there are so many lines to choose from. A good start and consistency in taking good lines is going to play a huge part in tomorrow’s race.” We lined up on Sunday ready to go. Our SRH, Thor, Dr. D Suzuki’s were all prepped and ready to take off. The gate dropped and Robby Bell ended up with the holeshot. Chris left the motocross section about mid pack and was moving up quick. Unfortunately early in the race he hit a big hole and hit the ground hard. He ended up knocking himself out and his race was ended early. “I was moving up and was riding strong, I wasn’t taking any unnecessary risks. I guess I hit a hole and didn’t see it. It threw me over the bars and that was it, I got carted off and my bike was all twisted up. It sucks I was finally up towards the front making it easy on myself. I didn’t have deal with all the carnage in the back, unfortunately I got KO’d and a big headache.” Bruce came off the line about mid pack and was fighting his way up. He struggled in the endurocross section the first couple laps but later got it dialed and was very smooth through it. “The offroad section was rough and with my finger being broken or jammed made it hard to hold on. I endured the pain and stayed at a steady pace. Going into this series my goal was to finish every round and finish in the top 20. I placed 17th this round, but learned so much and plan on stepping it up each round. My pit stops were great with the help of my mechanic Mike Herman and Stevie McKnight. Experience is so important in long races like these and I know I will improve at each round.” Round 5 is next up in Milford, CA at Honeylake MX Park. We are looking forward to finishing strong and putting our Suzuki’s up front. Please take a moment if you or a friend are in need of products from the following companies, we would not be out there with the toughest off-road motorcycle racers on the planet with out their help. A big thanks to: SRH, Suzuki, Dr D, Thor, H2O Overdrive, Custom Decals, Race Tech, Tagger Designs, Kicker, Bionic Evolution, Maxima, Leatt Brace, ODI, Flexx Handlebars, Devol Engineering, Dunlop, GPR Stabilizers, Smith Optics, Sheehan Construction, Hot Cams, Vertex Pistons, IMS, Acerbis, Zip Ty Racing, Pro Wheel, Primary Drive, Tusk, Galfer Brakes, Hinson, Jims Auto Sales, San Diego Powder Coating, and One11 Ink. |
Pro armor Backed racers take home GOLD AND SIVLER
Pro Armor backed racers Win 1-2 at Ballance MotoX
Pro Armor continues to help put racers on the podium with Josh Creamer and Dustin Wimmer going 1-2 at Round 2 of the AMA ATV MX Nationals. Round 2 was held at the Balance MotoX park in Bowling Green , Kentucky .
Creamer was riding great all day with a 2-1 finish in both motos to earn him the overall win for Round 2. In moto 1 he posted the fastest lap time. In moto 2 he was able to grab the holeshot but he didn’t win without a good fight from the other racers.
Wimmer rode good all day but it just wasn’t meant to be for the defending champ. Finishing 2nd overall with 3-4 moto scores enable him to maintain the lead in this series.
Several other Pro Armor riders found there way into the top ten. Jeremy Lawson had a good day with a 6-7 moto score for 7th overall in Round 2 putting him 8th overall in the series. Not far behind was Keith Little and Nick Denoble finishing 9th and 10th overall respectively.
Also riding for Team Pro Armor is Greg Gee who had a slightly rough go this weekend but was able to salvage some points. He sits 14th overall in the series and is really looking forward to Round 3.
So after 2 rounds Pro Armor backed and Yoshimura powered Dustin Wimmer and Josh Creamer are 1st and 2nd with Creamer only 4 points back of Wimmer. Round 3 is sure to be another great race at Birch Creek weekend of May 1st – 2nd.
