San Diego Bayfair Jet ski Closed Course 9/17,18, 19/2010

Posted by mauler On September - 20 - 2010 Comments Off

Words from the bayfair jet ski race. From Looter. Race director. Agreed LiLi… what a great event. From a staff perspective, it was smooth as butter. From a racer perspective, it offered plenty of water time, a great venue and tons of people cheering you on. I think it was a win-win for everyone. I’m confident that the Bayfair people enjoyed the show and we’ve earned a permanent place on the schedule. I hope the numbers lined up for Ross too so it makes sense for him to continue the event.

Of course none of those factors made any difference in the awesomeness of the event. For everyone that attended… this was YOUR event and you all made it awesome. Thanks for coming, thanks for racing, thanks for the friendship and fun!

I’d like to thank the following folks:

Ross Wallach for giving us the opportunity and giving me a chance to run the event my way.
Dave and Dawn Fekete of KMG Racing for their friendship and support for the event and the sport.
The KMG Racing Crew – Mark Manke, Jason Ananos, Bobby Kearns, Mike Kerkes, Charlie Sims, Nicky Rosenberg and the rest of the gang… always there to help
Aaron Sanchez for doing what he does on the water and as your race director.
Lisa Price who ninja chopped staging this weekend. I gave her a time frame to work with and she did it within 5 seconds. Awesome job!

Dave Arnold and Mike Yellich for announcing the action.
Nicole, Amber, Kasey and Robin for scoring us all weekend.
Brian Bowen and Steve for running the flags all weekend. By the way, Brian stepped up huge and helped us in a pinch… AND the dude takes great pics!
Robert Clay and his Course Marshal staff for keeping everyone safe.
Dawn Carey and Annie Sims for doing their thing with the moto lists and scoring… without these ladies working their magic, I’d still be figuring out how to post moto 1.
Robert and Vicky Rosenberg from Vey’s Powersports for their support of the event by providing two course marshal boats… and they were good ones!
Seaforth Rentals for providing the other course marshal boats… which were also good ones!
Johnny Customs of Pacific Motorsports for hooking us up with some great prizes for the awards ceremony… Thanks Johnny!
Jay Littlejohn from SCSC… this guy did so much for us behind the scenes and I really appreciated his help. Thanks Jay!
and of course, thanks to all of the racers that came to run some laps with us in lovely San Diego! thanks to Brian Bowen for the pics. Here’s the link

World Finals of Jet skiing is Definitely one of the most unrecognized Action Sports events around, When Most people think of extreme sports they think of, Moto-x, Rally car racing or even truck racing. San Diego Bayfair Jet Ski Closed Course 9/17,18, 19/2010

Ok, to All Region 1 & 2 and all racers:

It looks like we have a grand opportunity to be a part of one of the biggest race venues – the 2010 San Diego Bayfair World Series of Powerboat Racing (www.sandiegobayfair.org) September 17, 18, & 19. I am meeting tommorrow (Tuesday, August 10) with the Board of Governors for the event to finalize the details so I need to know for sure if this race will be supported by the racing community. You all asked for more racing and now I am able to deliver a big event which everyone is invited to. If we have a great turnout we will be a part of this event for years to come and trust me this is an event like no other. We would have our own area (Crown Point) to race at and it would be an APBA closed course event. There would be camping on-site (I would need an accurate count of motorhome spots) and discount hotel rates close to the race site. This race used to get over 150,000 people over the 3 days, now around 75,000 so it would still be the largest attending specator event you would be in front of nationwide!!

Rather than flood this thread, which I would like to leave for FAQ, please email me (with what class you race) to rpmracingent@yahoo.com or call               (310) 318-4012         (310) 318-4012 only if you plan to race so I can make a determination whether to make this a reality or not.

Please note, that if it is not supported I will withdraw this portion of the event and move on to something else that I have been working on so it is entirely up to you all to control your destiny and be a part of the biggest event. I do realize it is relatively short notice but since the opportunity has arisen I am taking it and offering it to you all!!

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Ross Wallach, RPM RACING ENT.

Pro MX Racers go Jet Sking

Kawasaki 800 SX-R Jet Ski WaterCraft

Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders Tyla Rattray and Dean Wilson ‘recover’ from the races with their Kawasaki 800 SX-R Jet Skis.

Hey all, it’s summertime north of the equator and for an avid sport motorcyclist there’s no better way to relax and cool off then Jet Skiing. Don’t believe me? Just ask Pro Circuit Kawasaki KX250F racers Tyla Rattray and Dean Wilson.

After a pretty successful Saturday of 250 racing in Pala raceway which saw Wilson finish first overall with a 1-1 performance and Rattray record a second place overall, the Kawi guys are back in Southern California ’recovering’ on their Kawasaki 800 SX-R Jet Skis.

We spent a couple hours yesterday with them pummeling ocean water along with Jet Ski racing ace and avid motocross racer Victor Sheldon. It was a blast to say the least and it never ceases to amaze me the similarities and overall crossover between the sports. Just like moto and sport bike riding technique is key and when you put it all together it is ridiculous how awesome it feels to carve a turn through the water.

Personal Watercraft racers from around the world returning Havasu

Personal Watercraft racers from around the world returning to Crazy Horse RV & Campground for 12th straight year;
‘Performance Alley–Industry Trade Show’ to be largest ever; Scenes from Hot Water PWC movie to be filmed at event

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz.—With just three U.S. qualifying events remaining and only a week left before the close of early registration, the field is shaping up to be among the best ever and the mammoth Performance Alley Industry Trade Show is guaranteed to be the largest ever for next month’s 29th Annual quakysense International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) World Finals in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Awaiting the results of U.S. qualifying events this weekend in Pacific City, Ore. and next weekend in Dallas and San Diego, the world’s most prestigious PWC racing event already has entries from 27 countries from the USA to Australia set to compete in the 2010 quakysense IJSBA World Finals to be held on Lake Havasu from Oc. 3-10.
With discounted early registration for participants open until Sept. 15, advance registration itself will close on Oct. 1 as the world returns to Lake Havasu for the 29th consecutive year as several hundred entries from across the U.S. and over 30 nations are expected to converge on Lake Havasu along with news media from a dozen countries to participate in and cover this world-renown special event.
While pit passes will be on sale to the general public on-site, admission is free to the grandstand area and the IJSBA Performance Alley Industry Trade Show at the purpose-built IJSA aqua stadium at the Crazy Horse RV Resort and Campgrounds, the site where the industry’s biggest week has been held for the last 12 consecutive years in the shadow of the original London Bridge on the offshoot waters of the Colorado River.
Always a colorful celebration of water, sunshine, racing and a final fall get-a-way, the event this year will also be the backdrop for several scenes to be shot for the sport’s first feature film, entitled Hot Water. Cameras will be rolling as former IJSBA World and National Champion and Hall of Famer and Hollywood stunt actor Larry Rippenkroeger, the film’s co-producer, fulfills his dream with his long conceived movie about PWC racing and the IJSBA World Finals.
With all of the off-water activities enhancing the experience of the event, the action on the water promises to be as competitive as ever with the world’s top PWC racers preparing to visit Lake Havasu once again. Among the reigning IJSBA Pro and Pro-Am World Champions who have entered to date are Austria’s Kevin Reiterer (Pro Ski Open, Pro-Am Ski Limited and Pro-Am GP Ski) along with New Zealand’s Sam Harvey (Pro Runabout Open) and USA’s Blaine Spires (Pro-Am Runabout 800SS).
To date, the talented field also includes among early entries former IJSBA Pro and Pro-Am World Champions Chris MacClugage of the USA, Steven Dauliach of France, Fumikazi Watanabe of Japan, and Craig Warner of the USA
Sanctioned under rules of the IJSBA, as overseen by Executive Director Scott Frazier, with world headquarters in Half Moon Bay, Calif. and produced in association with Jim Russell’s DSM Events of Lake Havasu City, the quakysense IJSBA World Finals of personal watercraft racing is one of the world’s most unique and spectacular sporting championships.
A veritable salute to personal watercraft and the youthful lifestyle it represents, the industry’s biggest week will include several distinct championship events. Starting the week will be the 2010 IJSBA Novice National Finals and Masters World Finals (Oct. 3-5), followed by the 2010 IJSBA Expert and Amateur World Finals (Oct. 6-7) and concluding with the featured 2009 IJSBA Pro and Pro-Am World Finals (Oct. 8-10).
Freestyle athletes will compete in the IJSBA Amateur Freestyle World Finals on Friday, Oct. 8 and the IJSBA Pro Freestyle World Finals with qualifying on Saturday, Oct. 9 and finals on Sunday, Oct. 10. The event offers free admission to the main stadium area and the IJSBA Performance Alley-the World’s largest Industry Trade Show, which features more than 55 individual vendors of the leading performance companies for watercraft, side by side and other power sports. Original Equipment Manufacturers will unveil their 2011 models. Monster Energy Drink will be on site once again with product sampling and the latest apparel and accessories will be displayed from major industries.
Current official event sponsors are the Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau, quakysense, Riva Motorsports, McGraw Insurance, Blowsion, R&D, Parts Unlimited, Bud Light, Monster Energy Drink, Hot Water-The Movie and Voice America’s Power Up Channel.
Joining the above event sports with vendor space in the IJSBA Performance Alley Industry Trade Show to date are several IJSBA promoters along with an impressive list of companies: Skat Trak, 208 Industries, Air Watch, Alliance Beverages, BRP/Sea-Doo, Dasa, Dippin’ Dots, DSO Eyewear, Elme Tools, Eric Malone Enterprises, Flip Flop Shop, Frontier Lubricants, FTF Clothing, Gasket Technology, Group-K, Hydro Turf, Icicles, IJSBA, Jet Connection, Jet Pilot/Arizona Jet Ski, Jet Ski Museum Jettribe, Jettrim, K-38, Kawasaki, Liquid Militia, Macc Racing/Bullett, M&M Marine, Mary’s Smoothies, Mini Doughnuts, Motec, Nauti Water Racing, Rick Roy Products, Ride It Out Clothing, River Rat Racing, Shirt Werx, The Ski Clinic, Slippery When Wet, Solas, Taco Hacienda, Tech One, Vast Photography, Waterdawg Customs, Water Wars Water Balloon Fight, Wave Armor, Worx, Wiseco and X-Scream.
