Gateway Race Promotions is proud to announce the GRP Amateur National Days at Pala Raceway on September 4th and 5th, being held on the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Pala National Track. This will be the first time the Pro National Track lay out will be raced on and its your opportunity to say you raced where Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, and Kevin Windham will be doing battle just one week later.

GRP is extremely excited about the new contingency program we were able to work out with Pala Raceway for Pala Raceway Member Contingency. Over $20,5000 worth of Practice Ride Passes will be up for grabs, with Hole Shot Awards and Fastest Lap Time awards also available for Pala Raceway Members to win. See the pay out schedule below.

The GRP Amateur National Days will have tons of prizes from DC Shoes, No Fear, Spy, FMF, Bel Ray, ARMA, and the Red Bull Wing Team will be on site for with free Red Bull Energy Drinks. Plus more sponsors are coming on board to make the event a huge success.

Pre Entries are $50 per Entry; Post Entries are $65 per entry. Entry includes transponder rental. Credit Cards will need to be held onto as deposit for Transponder rental return. Classes will be limited to the first 42 riders signed up per class. No Refunds or Rain Checks, all sales are final.

There will be Event Awards for Class Champions, 30% Trophies for each class race, and 100% Pro Payback in the 250 Pro, 450 Pro, Women Pro, Vet 30+ Pro, and Vet 40+ Pro.

Results will be scored by www.mylaps.com transponders and done the day of the event. For a class to be eligible for Championship awards a minimum of 10 riders must race the event.

We plan on having long motos for each class, minimum of 15 minutes for Amateur Classes and 20 minutes for Pros, and will be utilizing double gates and a unique split schedule for Saturday and Sunday Classes.

We want to make the program run smoothly and allow riders to get the most out of their days racing. All Vet riders, Women, and Armed Forces Classes will run on Saturday. All 250 and 450, 85cc, 65cc, 50cc, School Boy, College Boy and Superminis race on Sunday.

50cc and 65cc classes may run a modified track due to the steepness of several hills on the National Track. This will be determined before their practice session.

National Track Practice is available September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday leading up to the Amateur National Days. Practice fee is $25 for Full Size bikes, and $20 per mini bike. Split Practices in the afternoon session (3pm-6pm) to allow minis track time.

Spectator gate fees are $10 per day or $15 for the weekend. Dry Camping is available Friday night and Saturday night for $20 per Night.

There is a 2 day Outlaw Race at the end of the month at Salt Springs Valley Reservoir in Copperopolis Ca. The name of this tribute race is called JET EFFECT, and it is named that simply because of the effect each and every one of you jet ski racers have had on spectators, sponsors, and myself.

Saturday will host a 100 mile enduro for the guys who have “the need for speed lasting more than an hour”,,, Following the enduro there will be a 2-hr start clinic utilizing holders and bandstarts. If you are headed to WF’s, you are welcome to practice as much as you want. After the clinic, there will be slalom showdowns, short track oval racing for the standups, and Australian Pursuits for all classes.

After all that, we will host our annual racer appreciation bbq which will be followed by R/C car racing lakeside under the lights, and when thats done – its all about hanging out with some cool people, some exotic beverages, exchanging war stories, (and doing Jagger Bombs at the Ski Clinic Trailer.)

Sunday features a full day of Outlaw Double Point Series Racing with 3 heats for every class. The X-treme 550′s All Out will be racing for a sizeable cash can and gifts, and the Ski Clinic will be showing off the new B.O.B freestyle ski with freestyle exhibitions inbetween heat rounds.

And at the end of the day when the smoke clears…
The top (10) 850 Superstand expert/intermediate racers and the top (10) SCXP Supersit Expert/Intermediate racers from the north and south will face off for a mini rematch of the 2008 Norcal / Socal Shootout.

I have had the 5 1/2 foot tall Shootout trophy sitting in my living room for a year and I want to see it on display by the region who earns it. A few racers came up with the idea of having a “mini shootout” at Jet Effect and thats something we can do, but unlike last time, it can’t be tallied by results of all the classes, and it can’t affect the regular points series racing taking place.

So how do we have a shootout at Jet Effect that doesn’t interfere with ~
A 100 mile enduro, a 2 hour start clinic with holders and band starts, a slalom showdown,
standup short track oval racing, australian pursuits, a rider appreciation bbq dinner, r/c car racing under the lights, and on sunday… 3 heats of double points outlaw series racing, x-treme 550′s all out, and freestyle demos???

I want to see the best of the best go handlebar to handlebar to claim a years worth of regional bragging rights , and using the day’s race efforts to qualify for the startline of the shootout race makes the most sense to me. All season long we have had full startlines of 850 expert intermediate standups at every race and ironically, these are most the guys headed to do battle at the upcoming World Finals so… I’d like to see the shootout consists of 2 classes. The 850 Superstand Experts and the SCXP Supersit Experts.

At the completion of Sunday’s regular racing, I want to do some quick scoring with the girls and determine who the top 5 racers are from both divisions and regions. It has to be an equal number from both regions, so if there are 4 socal guys racing 850 expert and 8 norcal guys, the top 4 norcal standups will go up against the 4 socal guys and do battle. How you place overall during the day determines if you make the shootout, so thats a little extra incentive to let it rip all day on sunday. Same principle with the scxp sits, and if we don’t have enough sit entrys, we will roll that offer to the Sport Sit GP 1100 class. Ideally I would like to see the top 5 socal Standup racers of the day going up against the top 5 norcal guys. Same with the Sits. The results of the Standup race and Sitdown race will be scored and the region with the highest score takes the trophy home for a year.

All this will be dependant upon the number of entries we see at jet effect.
Its a double points race, so the norcal guys in the chase will definately be there for double points. I’ve heard a rumor a few socal guys are headed up here to get some last minute racing in before WF. If they come up in force, this could turn out to be a pretty cool couple of races to watch at the end of the day.

You all know we like to lay out some decent sized courses with at least 2 splits.
This course will be no different, and I am looking for the shootout standup race to be at least 10 laps – and the sitdown shootout race 12 or 14. Aside from some braggin rights, a huge trophy, and maybe some individual bling here and there, I think these 2 shootout races will bring an awesome end to a great couple days of racing.

There is an ongoing thread on the Norcal pages titled DJSA Jet Effect Racers…
If any of you Socal guys who don’t view the norcal threads that often are interested in representing Socal, the red carpet is out to you. The SCXP Supersits are looking like they are going to have a full house and I would like to see an equal balance for the Superstand Expert-Intermediates as well.

There is no charge for the clinic or play racing on saturday
There is no charge for the BBQ or R/C car racing saturday night
Sundays entry fees for 3 heats of racing are already at their usual rock bottom levels
$40 for 650 stands and X2′s
$50 for all other classes
$20 for each additional class with a limit of 3 total classes for the day
X-treme 550′s All Out – no entry. 30 bucks in the can gets you to a vintage startline with 100 % payback.
There is no additional entry fee for the 2 main event shootout races ending the day sunday.

If you are interested in coming up north, please jump over to the norcal thread and put your name under the classes you run, how many crew/guests for dinner, and what region you represent if running a shootout class. (850 Superstand Expert/Intermediate / SCXP Supersit Exp/Int / or Sport Sit 1100 Exp/Int GP as an alternate class) Salt Springs is truely a Jet Ski Racer’s paradise. The lakeside camping and waterside pits are awesome, but the best part of all – is the truely great people who come out to race.

Socal – if you guys wanna battle to have this pretty cool trophy on display for a year at your favorite dealership or sponsor’s display case – all we need is 5 or 6 of your best 850 Standup racers and a few more SCXP Supersits to make it a fair fight. The invitation is there if you want it.

Any questions about classes, our rules, the x-treme 550 class, or anything else, please email or call me.
Full race and lodging info will be posted in a few days on the site. I thank you for your interest.
In the meantime, stay safe, ride smart, and keep it fun!

Please help the off road community

Fast-Aid is grieving with the rest of the off-road community in light of last night’s horrific accident at the MDR California 200 in Lucerne. Fast-Aid was born out of the need for rapid assistance for the families of racers, crews, photographers and spectators after tragedies such as this. Fast-Aid is partnering with several off-road news and media outlets to coordinate donations to assist the families and more information can be found by visiting our website at www.fast-aid.org

Major props to everyone of you amazing racers, from every class, for braving the “Widowmaker” and putting on yet another incredible day of safe racing for the city – as well as some serious congrats to all those who made it to the podium. You’ve heard it before, but everyone on the startlines who braved those ragin waters bordered by cement walls was a winner yesterday and I take my hat off to you all… Thanks for another great race day I’ll never forget!

Special Thanks ~
As always, special thanks to some special people.

The shots you got and framed for Team Orange hit me right in the heart as I’m sure it did theirs.
Thank you for everything you do for all of us, racers and staff alike.

The young people in djsa amaze me, and Eli Kemnitz from the ski clinic is no exception to that amazement with the incredible shots he captures with the camera (that I’ve never seen leave his hand!)

Extra thanks for the freestyle exhibitions that all those Suisun fans were waiting for, performed by
Superstar Derrick Kemnitz and a long overdue guest appearance from John Kaszer.

Thank you Robby Myer and Mike at WET RACER for the very cool write up about DJSA.

Not only is it cool seeing all you racers smile, but it’s pretty cool seeing my family smile also and yesterday – they were there in full force. From my Mom and Dad who are in their late 80’s, to my brother Mark and his wife, and my grand nephew Awesome Austin – thank you for being there to check out my other family… “the DJSA family”!

Thanks to Stan Schrock JB for the course setup, and to the General, Karty, and the rest of the crew for the teardown. Jason Ward dialed in the announcing and scoring setups in the morning with help from Stormin Norman Yee, and then everyone pitched in at the end of the day to get everything back in the trailer.

Sincere thanks to one of the best scoring staffs in the business. The speed and accuracy in which you provide me with the results is second to none, and on top of that, I personally enjoy reading all the side notes you girls make during the day!

Special thanks to my brother Mark for the guest flagging services he provided. Always nice to have an experienced racer on the flagdock (even if he is a motocross dude) and while he was flagging, it gave me more time to applaud and give thumb’s up to you superstars when you passed by.

Special thanks to the teams who drive from places I’d send postcards from because they are so far away… just so they can race.
Team Austin from Utah.
Team Roberts from Sparks Nv.
Team Pagen from Gardnerville.

Very special thanks to the Xtreme 550’s All Out Crew for doing it again…. putting on yet another awesome old school show that had everyone cheering along spectator row. This one was even more spectacular because the guys were joined by 850 expert and FAST Stand GP racer Ian Roberts. 550 master Rick Robson offered up his ski to Roberts after the widow maker started reminding Robson his ribs were still bruised from race-6… When the guys were on their final pace lap before getting the green flag, I remember thinking to myself – “I wonder if those things are as hard to ride as everyone says” and I couldn’t wait to see what Roberts was going to do on the old school ski!!!

Well, I’m here to tell ya – Robby Myer’s idea to start this class because the 550’s are a beast all their own – is completely true. Roberts held his own on the start and all the way down the front straight. Even made it look easy through the sweeping 1st turn and into the backside box turns in true Ian Roberts fashion, but then before entering the north side split… well, uh, I think after lap one is about the time I started seeing Ian more in the water than on top of it and although I didn’t get to talk to him about it afterwards – I’m thinking he would definitely agree that the 550 JS hull is a beast all it’s own and I gotta give mad props to the guys who make it look easy every race.

Layin it Down Watson, Prodonovich, Cornelius, Robson, Rennie, Bentson, Gray,
Leg draggin Chambers, Burns, Yellich, Myers… These guys have me so fired up I’m not going to rest until the day I can talk some of those incredible names from the 90’s into coming to California for a mega all out class reunion – (and I’m not talking high school if ya know what I mean!!!! )

Thank You Muscle Milk and Memo Gidley for recognizing the winners from each class.
Thank you Sean from Frontier Performance Lubricants for recognizing the SPORT SIT racers of the day. Thank you Go Kart Racer for generously adding to the x-treme 550’s all out cash can, and for recognizing the personal best effort I’ve seen yet by 800 novice standup racer Jeff Loder. Thank you Hampton Inn and Suites not only for the awesome rate for those awesome rooms, but for again adding to the x-treme 550’s all out cash can. Thank you DK1 Designs for the gift certificates you provided for the x-treme 550’s, and for recognizing personal best efforts from our newer racers.

Sincere thanks to those who stayed for the awards dinner at the Cast Iron… I was hoping for a similar turnout to the first one we had there but the numbers were down quite a bit. Regardless, it’s always nice being able to say thanks for the racing you put on in person, and in this case I thank each of you who stayed to recognize the racers who made the widow maker podium – and to send Kurt and Doreen on their move from the Bay Area out in true style.

The biggest thanks of all goes to the giant team and crew of the ski clinic…
After dinner I met with the manager, apologized for the light turnout, took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and asked “how much do I owe you…” All I heard him say was – “Are you kidding me? With the amount of drinks you guys bought tonight I think it’s safe to call it even on the leftover food”. Then it was my turn to say “are you kidding me?”

Thank you SKI CLINIC, Thank you Nicole “Jacki Daniels” Lambert, and thanks to everyone else who made it a great night. It’s not too often I get to “let my hair down” (since I don’t have any because of the SCXP class”) but it was Saturday night and a special occasion so – what the heck. All I know is that some restaurant sold so many Jagerbombs – they ran out of Jager! (say what??) All I know is it was a kick in the a$$ bar hopping down Main street and partying with Kurt, Doreen, Steph, Nicole, Josh, Jason, and the rest of you animals. All I know is I’m glad I was walking my dogs about the time the hotel management reminded some “friends and family of mine” the hottub had closed 3 hours earlier, and most of all I know is from here on out – I can proudly say to my charming niece little miss JACKIE DANIELS… “You’re a LIGHTWEIGHT! “

We won’t be back in Suisun until next year but the biggest thanks goes to all of you from every class, for the incredible safe racing you put on everywhere we go. You always conduct yourselves as true professionals on and off the water, and that is the reason we keep getting invited back to this unique race location. Never have I been more proud to be associated with such an incredible group of people and for that… I thank you the most.
