Easy Enough….America, love it or Leave it.

If this flag offends people living under its protection, they need to rethink the reasons for being here. Fly her high, fly her with pride! Semper Fidelis!

After the National the crews have been busy rebuilding all of the Tracks and toning down the National Track so it is friendly to masses.

Vet Track: (Open Now)

The Vet Track direction has been reversed (its now going clock wise) and features a fast flowing layout, with fun jumps, a good section of whoops, fast straight aways and fun bowl turns. The track will see constant updates over the next several weeks as it breaks in and all of the obstacles get worked in. In a couple weeks we will see an Expansion of the Vet Track.

New Mini Bike Complex:

On the West end of Pala Raceway we have expanded the Mini Bike and PeeWee Tracks and they will be opening over the next two weeks.

Mini Bike Track: (Open Now)

The new Mini bike complex will feature Pala Raceway’s largest Mini Bike Track for 65cc and 85cc Mini Bikes ever. It will allow the Mini riders to open up their bikes as well as some fun safe jumps, berms, and whoops.

(Photo of the New Mini Track: Chase Ballard Photo.)

New PeeWee Track: (Opening 10/1)

The Mini Bike Complex will also have a dedicated PeeWee Track for 50cc-65cc riders that features a fun and safe layout that will develop skills and be a great track for all the 50s and 65 riders out there.

Original PeeWee Track: (Open Now)

The Original PeeWee Track by the Spy+ Building is still open.

First Timer Training Loop: (Opening 10/1)

The Mini Bike Complex will also have a beginners track that will be the place to start learning how to ride. This track is a basic design with low rolling jumps and wide corners that will be the perfect place for first time riders to learn the controls of their machines.

Amateur Track: (Opening Middle of October)

Over the next couple weeks we will be working on adding an Amateur Track back to Pala Raceway. This track will be in between the Vet Track and National Track in skill level and will feature elevation changes, fun jumps, berms, and whoops. The current plan is to have this track open on Weekends and we hope to have it finished Mid to Late October. Stay Tuned for updates.

National Track: (Open Now)

The Pala National Track is being toned down to enable all riders to have a fun and comfortable riding experiance. We have began the process of reducing the technical jumps that were featured at the Traxxas Pala National, and the track will still feature the elevation changes and fast design.

San Diego Bayfair on Mission Bay Hydro Races

Posted by mauler On September - 22 - 2011 Comments Off

San Diego Bayfair on Mission Bay, September 16-18, 2011

It was another great year at the San Diego Bayfair on Mission Bay with tons of great racing. The excitement never stopped through out the weekend with something new every day. This event happens every year down on Mission Bay and incorporates the fastest boats in the world. Everything from the Lucas Oil drag boats to jet skis. One of the biggest attractions here on the bay is the famous Hydroplanes. These beautiful, turbine powered boats go faster then 200mph. The drivers are just as amazing, taking up to 6 G’s of force in every turn. It’s a 2.5 mile coarse these boats race on. Along with the Hydroplanes are the Grand Prix West boats, Cracker Box’s, Stock Hydros, PWC Racing and the brand new P1 SuperStock USA class. With all these exciting classes, and constant action, the weekend was jam packed from 8am to almost 6pm every day.
When racing gets slower, the Air National Guard and Degree Men have put on an amazing experience in the pits across the bay where you can meat the drivers, get autographs, games, music, and food. You can even pick up your very own free samples of the latest Degree Men adrenaline series.
On saturday, across from the pit area is a pond where RC boating takes place for there finals. These modified boats compete for there very own championship with there boats sharing much resemblance from there record breaking friends on mission bay.
On Sunday, Dave Villwock, the defending Bayfair champion, took yet another win this weekend and became the sports all-time winningest driver this season in the Hydroplane class. The racing here is truly amazing and something that is unforgettable. From here the series will travel to Doha, Qatar for the world championships!

Body Beach sets the tone for the World Finals

LAKE HAVASU CITY — Athletes are counting down the days to the start of the 2011 IJSBA Quakysense World Finals and the result is an influx of racers to get in some early practice.

Kay Sykes Photo/Special to News-Herald. Personal Watercraft racer Aaron Sanchez (left) dices with another racer during an all day practice session at Body Beach on Saturday. Sanchez traveled from Southern California for the weekend to get ready for next month’s IJSBA Quakysense World Finals.

The racers come from around the United States — and the world — to test and tune their race skis at Body Beach, the local hot spot for PWCs. Some arrive as early as 9 a.m. and stay until the sun starts to set.

Aaron Sanchez, Keifer King, and Minoru Kanamouri, all from Southern California, diced it up on the practice course, Saturday, pushing each other to the limits. Practice is key to these athletes, burning tank after tank of expensive race fuel to win a world championship.

Kanamouri is not only just a seasoned athlete, but is also the inventor and creator of the very popular Kawasaki SXR. His racing career started back in Japan more than 25 years ago in the novice class and has progressed to holding numerous national and world titles. Kanamori is also in the Guinness Book of World Records holding the fastest time of 18.26 seconds in the Pro-Runabout 785 slalom course.

King had to leave practice early due to a cracked exhaust pipe.

“This is why we come to town early for the world finals.” King said. “It’s better to break down now rather than on the line.”

King. 19, is a returning world champion and will be vying for the $30,000 cash prize in the Pro Ski class along side of Kanamori, Havasu’s Chris MacClugage and Nicolas Rius along with several other international riders.

The Copenhaver father and two sons team were the first to arrive Saturday morning, from the Phoenix area, with their own starting band to work on their starting techniques with Ryan Decker from Tucson.

“A full day of training can be tough on the body physically and mentally and once in awhile it is necessary for the kids to have a little fun and blow off some steam.” personal watercraft racing fan, Nedra Atwood, said while watching junior racers Kaleb Copenhaver and Ryan Decker ride sit downs.

Missing from the Saturday morning practice session were the 13-year-old, twin junior racers, Lauren and Megan Conroy, of Phoenix. The girl power duo also play basketball, but will return next weekend to hone their racing skills.

Several members from the Canadian team have been in town for a couple of weeks now, but are laying low to prevent any pre race injuries. Next week more international athletes are expected to arrive in town with their race support crew and family members.

Practices at Body Beach are open to the public; however, there is no set schedule. Some prefer early morning when the temperatures are cooler, while others wait until later in the day when the water is choppier and a little more challenging.

The world finals will take place Oct. 1-9 at the Crazy Horse Campgrounds. Admission to the grandstands and performance alley is free to the public. For more information on races and a schedule of events happening during the week, visit the IJSBA website at www.IJSBA.com.
