Lake Elsinore Grand Prix

Racing had looked skeptical with a storm quickly approaching in the days leading up to Lake Elsinore Grand Prix and unfortunately, due to high water levels in the lake’s inlet channel, riders couldn’t cross over into the foothills as they usually do every year.
As a racer myself, I felt that Diamond Stadium did the best they could with the situation that was presented this year. A lot of racers and spectators were looking forward to the classic race through the foothills, but had to change their mindset coming into last weekends race. The racers were faced with some sections this year that normally are not incorporated into the grand prix, which I felt leveled the playing field and brought everyone onto an equal level for the race. It made for some extra nerves going into the unclassified. The track in the morning on Saturday was perfect. Super smooth sand sections were begging for more throttle! With rain in-between the earlier races, it kept spectators and racers on their toes while they awaited their race. I raced race five, and the track had quickly changed from race one, that morning.

The energy was so intense the whole weekend, I don’t think a rough track was going to stop anyone from going for the win. I finished 6th on Saturday. Getting 5th last year, and 6th this year only got me more determined for the rest of the weekend. With over 1,000 entrants from all of the country, and rain clearing up, everyone had high hopes for Sundays racing.
I also raced race 12 on Sunday afternoon. The weather was absolutely perfect. Determined to finish better, I did, placing 3rd for Sunday. I had nothing but fun this year at the Grand Prix and thanks to President Dave Oster, of Storm Events and Podium Productions, this race was possible. I cant wait to come out next year and race the previous track layout with everyone. This is a great event and anyone who loves riding whether pro or beginner should check it out if you haven’t already. Bring your whole family to the 2012 Lake Elsinore Grand Prix.
I would like to give a special shout out to Michael The Mauler Yellich for his help and support as well as my mother and girlfriend who were out to support this years race.
