The Soboba Grand Prix 2009 $$$ 20,000 PRO PURSE
Helmet cam video of the Per-run Soboba GP track http://www.idiotboyz.com
Next Tuesday is confirmed. Pre-Run Video should be up by next Tuesday night. I’ll repeat what I said in a previous post… The Soboba GP is definitely worth riding/racing in. Most of the terrain that the course cuts through is open just once a year and the location is like a picture post card. I will be camping there Friday & Saturday night with the family and racing on Sunday. The Soboba GP location is about 15 minutes past Starwest going East on the Ramona Expressway. These guys put on an A+ event. Everyone that I have spoke to that attended last year had a blast and said nothing but good things. Plenty of flaggers, track support and course markers. Plenty of water trucks to address any dry spots and medical support standing by on site.
Mike “the Mauler” from ThrottleJunkie.com will be the event announcer. Stop by and introduce yourself to him. Tell him your a ProRider and he’ll probably do an on-the-spot interview with you. I believe they still have some vendor spots open too (last year they were free). If you know anyone that would like to be a vendor, click on the like below.
Hey, whats up? Mauler and Frank were at last years Soboba Grand Prix

I did an Internet search on “American Motorcycle Racer” and Chris Blais was one of only 145 on the list that included famous names from various types of motorcycle racing, such as Malcolm Smith, Evel Knievel, Jeff Ward, Steve McQueen and Jeremy McGrath.
Blais didn’t race supercross; he wasn’t a daredevil, nor did he do X Games or Supermoto.
He was in a racing category more like Malcolm and McQueen – big open desert races.

Pit report from Team Danzio’s Racing from Vince Rothermond

Vegas to Reno Race
When I think back to being a kid and having dreams of what I wanted to do with my life, I can only remember two things that come to mind: cowboy or race car driver. What did I choose…Pharmaceuticals. Not even close to my dreams, but it pays the bills.
On August 21st, I was lucky enough to get a little closer to one of my dreams. I was given a chance form Team Danzio to pit for their Class 1 car during the BITD Vegas to Reno race. I hadn’t been that excited about anything since Mauler talked me into trying out motocross. I had no idea what to expect, but learned in three days more about being a part of team then I had experienced in my whole life. From the qualifying runs (that we placed 4th overall, 2nd out of Class 1 cars) to the time our car crossed the finish line in Reno, I was a key player in the Danzio team. Granted, I am not the MOST mechanical person on the team. I was given the
chance to change a couple tires, pump and dump several 11 gallon gas cans (this turned out to be my primary function), and even replace a serpentine belt that had been shredded. I was able to ride shotgun in one of four chase trucks with my buddy Troy and his son Corey…two of the best pit buddies a guy could ask for!
The adventure was long, hot, and tiring, but worth every minute! In the end, our car placed 14th in class. It was the team/car’s first finish of a race and I was a part of it. Thanks to the entire team for allowing me the chance to participate and I hope to get out there at the end of this month to pit again!
Am I sad that I am not a cowboy or a race car driver? The answer is no. I will continue to be the weekend warrior motocross racing Pharmaceutical specialist who HELPS race car drivers finish races. That sounds pretty good to me! - Vince

Moto-X-Kidz Summer Series opener – Sunday 6/8 at the Kal-Gard Motorsport Complex
- BIG TURNOUT, … SWEET !
With no less 20 gates drops and too many classes to mention, the big turnout gave the feel of attending a mini-national. As I entered the Kal-Gard Motorsport Complex (Lake Elsinore MX Park) on Sunday morning, I was amazed at the sheer number of families, motor-homes, 5th wheels, trucks, bike trailers, and of course, race bikes … along with their riders, all wired in anticipation of the practice sessions that would prelude the races.
The riders and cheer squads alike (aka: parents) were all soaking in the MX flavor the event provided. Another class act of Kevin Reno and the Moto-X-Kidz crew at large. The pits were humming as our So-Cal summer sun came out to play as well. Not overly warm, but a few umbrellas at the starting gate should give ya a clue on the weather. Plus, the track condition changed with each moto, … keeping it real to what is, the sport of MX racing.
Check out the pics by both the skillful lens of Frank Galante, ThrottleJunkie’s own triggerman, and the views of Joe Beene, from Aretoy http://www.aretoy.photoreflect.com. Don’t forget readers, Aretoy can put that sweet picture of your Kid on a t-shirt … very cool to sport around town! The many pictures taken offer a peek into the events feel, some good riding shots and of course the abundance of Kidz on bikes, …like ants, where everywhere – and having a blast!
